The Osun State chapter of the Social Democratic Party has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to start his anti-corruption war in Osun by ordering a thorough investigation into the financial activities of the Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s administration.

The SDP said this in a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo, the state capital, on Monday by the state chairman of the party, Mr. Ademola Ishola.

It said the President would be shocked at the level of financial recklessness in Osun State.

The party said it was ready to help Buhari to unravel several alleged financial recklessness engaged in by the All Progressives Congress administration in the state.


It said, “We did not find ourselves in this pitiable situation in Osun due to the dwindling revenue from the federal allocation alone, we are where we are today because of the reckless manners our finances had been handled in the last four years.

“Now that the new government is settling down for work, we want President Buhari whose party has been at the helms of affairs of this state since November 27, 2010 to help us look into how the over N350bn allocated to the state from the federation account had been spent.

The immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has raised alarm over attempts by the new occupant of Government House in Port Harcourt, Barr. Nyesom Wike to intimidate, threaten and blackmail officials of his (Amaechi’s) administration, including civil servants into making false, phony and bogus claims of alleged corruption and corrupt practices against him (Amaechi) and his wife, Judith; concocted claims that cannot be substantiated.

Amaechi also debunked claims by Wike that the seat of power in the State, Government House, Port Harcourt was vandalized and looted by him. He described Wike’s provocative utterances as another cheap smear campaign and ploy to siphon billions of naira from the State treasury under the guise of renovating a ‘vandalized’ and ‘looted’ Government House.

This is contained in a statement released on behalf of the former Governor by his spokesman, David Iyofor.

Six officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and 16 bankers who allegedly engaged in sharp practices over mutilated currency notes are now in big trouble and will have their days in court.

The EFCC has concluded plans to arraign six top executives of the CBN and 16 other bankers working with commercial banks, following their implication in the mega scam involving the theft and re-circulation of defaced and mutilated currencies.

While carrying out the assignment, the investigation team was alleged to have found one of the currency boxes filled only with old newspapers rather than 20 bundles of N1000 notes.

The indicted CBN officials are:
Patience Okoro-Eye (Abuja) , Afolabi Olufemi (Lagos), Kolawole Babalola (Ibadan), Olaniran Muniru Adeola (Ibadan), Fatai Yusuf, Adekunle (Head, Security, CBN, Ibadan) and Ilori Adekunle Sunday (Akure).

The lid on the scam, widely suspected to have gone on unchecked for years, was blown on November 3, 2014 via a petition to the EFCC alleging that over N6.58billion was cornered and discreetly recycled by top executives of the CBN at the Ibadan branch.

This sparked off the investigation by the EFCC.

The deposit banks in this instance are Zenith Bank, FCMB, Wema Bank, Access Bank, First Bank, Skye Bank, Ecobank and Sterling Bank.

The suspects will be arraigned on a five-count charge by the EFCC before a Federal High Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, between Tuesday and Thursday.

The self acclaimed 'better by far' university had its own share of domestic thieving on the early hours of Tuesday, 2nd June 2015.

At about 3:40am, chants of 'thief', 'ole' were heard from a very large number of students who were studying overnight for their next examinations probably that same morning.
Two boys were apprehended by the students, accusing them of the theft of 2 Mobile Phones which included a New UNILORIN tablet.

The boys were mobbed by the angry students before taking them forcefully to the Security Unit who took over the matter from there.

Judging by the school's rules and regulations, the penalty for such act of theft ranges from rustication to possible expulsion.

Niger state Governor, Malam Abubakar Sani Bello, has appointed Alhaji Shehu Umar Danyaya, a retired Civil Servant, as Secretary to the State Government (SSG.)
Others appointed are Mikhail Al-Amin Bmitosahi, a former member of the House of Representatives as Chief of Staff while Dr.
 Ibraheem Dooba, a teacher and a columnist with the Daily Trust was also appointed as the Chief Press Secretary and Haruna Mamman Vatsa as the Director of Protocol and Yusuf Waili as the senior special assistant, timekeeping and schedule.
These appointments are with immediate effect.

Akwa Ibom Gov., Mr Udom Emmanuel, has announced the appointment of the immediate-past Chief of Staff, Government House, Mr Etekamba Umoren, as the Secretary to State Government (SSG).
This is contained in a statement issued in Uyo on Monday, signed by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant (Media) and Chief Press Secretary, Mr Ekerete Udoh.
Udoh’s appointment as the new spokesperson for the Governor was part of the statement.
The statement disclosed that Umoren, who is a retired Permanent Secretary in the state, is a graduate of the University of Benin and a Knight of the Methodist Church.
The Chief Press Secretary holds a Master of Arts Degree in Political Science from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York, besides his first degree in Politics and Journalism.
He has spent over 28 years in journalism, during which he served as a columnist in Sunday Concord and ThisDay Newspapers, as well as an Editor of Hints Magazine.
