Security agents in Zimbabwe have allegedly detained two Nigerian pastors and blocked their leader, Chris Okafor – who last year prophesied President Robert Mugabe’s death – from entering the country, reports said today, reports Zimbabwean News Day.
Okafor, the leader of the Liberation City World Outreach Ministries, reportedly said in October last year that Zimbabwe would have a new president by March this year.

The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Ogun state has sacked Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial district, Senator Buruji Kashamu a member of House of Representatives from Ijebu East /Ijebu North /Ogun waterside, Adekoya Adesegun and five members of the state assembly over non-compliance of electoral law.
The tribunal has therefore ordered a fresh election in the areas affected.

A SIX-man gang of suspected kidnappers yesterday engaged Anambra State Police Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, in a gun battle at Okpoko in Ogbaru local government area during which three members of the gang were feared dead and a woman, Mrs. Edith Maduekwe, kidnapped by the gang, rescued by the police. Mrs. Maduekwe, who was kidnapped by the suspects on October 4, 2014 at Oba in Idemili South local government area was rescued at an erosion site in Oraukwu in Idemili North local government area of the state.

NO fewer than 167 persons,, who were alleged to be impersonators were apprehended during the just concluded Post University Matriculation Examination, Post- UTME, of the institution.
It was gathered that the arrested persons have been handed over to security operatives .ion.
The university’s director of information, Dr. Emma Ojukwu said the affected persons would be charged to court soon.
Meanwhile, of the 30, 477 candidates who made the university their first choice institution and who were invited for the Post –UME, only 28,233 candidates turned up for the examination.
According to Ojukwu, it was noticed that following the stringent measures adopted by the University for the examination, many fraudulent candidates did not turn up for the screening for fear of being detected.

Director-General, National Sports Commission, Alhassan Yakmut has appealed to President Mohamadu Buhari to allow a percentage of proceeds of the Nigeria Lottery Trust Fund for development of sports in Nigeria.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says arrangement has been concluded for the sale of its 2016 application forms.

According to the statement, the measure is to prepare candidates early for the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. It urged candidates to purchase the examination scratch cards from Zenith Bank, Skye Bank and First Bank.
 “The registration fee for the (JAMB) UTME is N5,000 and candidates are also to pay N500 to obtain the textbook, ‘The Last Days’ at Forcados High School. “Candidates will, however, be issued the book at the point of registration after showing evidence of payment,” the statement said. It added that the registration period would be from August 31 to January 15, 2016. According to the statement, the registration website will close on January 19, 2016. It noted that the UTME had been slated to commence on February 29 and end on March 14, 2016. The statement said the board had advised all prospective candidates to ensure they obtained the application forms early as well as fill their personal data correctly to avoid any mix-up.

ABUJA — President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, set up a 13-member panel to probe two of his predecessors, late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, on procurement of arms and ammunition for the Armed Forces.
 The investigative committee’s mandate is to identify irregularities and make recommendations for streamlining the procurement process in the Armed Forces.
 The committee, which was constituted by the the National Security Adviser, Major-General Babagana Monguno (retd), on the directive of the President, is headed by AVM J.O.N. Ode (retd.) while Brig-Gen. Y. I. Shalangwa is secretary. Other members are Rear Admiral J. A. Aikhomu (retd.), Rear Admiral E. Ogbor (retd.), Brig-Gen. L.
 Adekagun (retd.), Brig-Gen. M. Aminu-Kano (retd.), Brig-Gen N. Rimtip (retd.), Commodore T. D. Ikoli, Air Commodore U. Mohammed (retd), Air Commodore I. Shafi’i, Col A. A. Ariyibi, GP Capt C.A. An Arik Air cabin crew member as on Monday night arrested at Heathrow Airport London by the UK Border Force in connection with alleged possession of items suspected to be banned substances.
PM News could not officially ascertain the nature of the ban substance or the name of the crew member but unconfirmed source said the crew member was caught with cocaine.
Arik Airline has however responded to the arrest saying that is presently carrying out its private investigation to determine how the cabin crew member came about the suspected banned substance.
A statement signed by the airline spokesman, Ola Adebanji said the airline will be cooperating fully with the UK authorities and other appropriate agencies in their investigations.
“The airline again reaffirms its commitment to the fight against drug and illicit substances trafficking and will not tolerate the use of any of its aircraft or crew for the courier of banned items and substances,” he said.
Adebanji added that Arik Airline carries out very stringent checks on all members of staff and its travelling guests ahead of all flights.

A video clip showing an ex-commissioner in Zamfara State reportedly engaged in an explicit sexual activity with an unidentified lady in a room has surfaced.

The former commissioner was a member of the recently dissolved cabinet in the state.

The two-minute video clip which was obtained by Daily Trust has attracted criticism and condemnation from some people, who are demanding he be arrested and prosecuted.

Some residents who have seen the video have described it as the most scandalous video in the history of the state and others are wondering why he got involved in such illicit act.



It is unknown who recorded the sex video, whether a third party in the act or a mounted camera. Some are however, insinuating one of the actors might have been recorded it because of the unsteadiness of the recording.

When Malam Ibrahim Wakkala Muhammad, the state deputy governor was approached by journalists, he said he would not stop anyone from publishing the story but it would be better if the story was left alone.

When the ex-commissioner involved in the sex video was contacted, he said: “I am on my way to Gusau, give me some time and I would call you back when I arrive, please.”

Despite promising to call back, he did not.

Spokesman of the state police command, DSP Sanusi Amiru, said he could not comment on the issue as he was yet to see the video.

With the award of a rig contract to carry out the drilling and completion programme for the Aje shallow-water field offshore Lagos, the first oil production is expected to begin in the state by December this year.

The operator of the Oil Mining Lease 113 has, on behalf of the joint venture partners, entered into a rig contract with Saipem for the Scarabeo 3 drilling rig to carry out the drilling and completion programme for the Aje Field Cenomanian oil development, Panoro Energy said in a statement on Monday.

The joint venture partners led by Yinka Folawiyo Petroleum Company Limited (the operator) had in October last year taken the final investment decision to develop the first phase of the Aje field.

According to the statement, the Scarabeo 3 rig is a semi-submersible rig currently stationed offshore Lagos. The rig will be moved 18 nautical miles to the Aje drilling location and will be used to carry out well operations for the first phase of the Aje Cenomanian Oil field development that includes two subsea production wells.

It said the well operations would comprise the completion of the existing Aje-4 well as a production well, and the drilling and completion of a new well, Aje-5, which would be drilled to the Aje-2 subsurface location.

The Aje-2 well is said to have demonstrated high reservoir productivity in a Cenomanian production test conducted in 1997, flowing approximately 3,700 barrels of oil per day of 41˚API oil under suboptimal well conditions.

 Senator Bukola Saraki was nevertheless conciliatory towards his antagonists in the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, as he dismissed insinuations of his imminent defection from the party. His insistence nonetheless, the bad blood flowing from Saraki’s upset of the APC’s official nominee for Senate President flowed into the Senate session, yesterday, as the different camps in the party squabbled over the legitimacy of the inauguration. Besides, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, yesterday, publicly snubbed a handshake from the Senate President at the swearing-in of 28 senators who missed the oath-taking on Tuesday.

 The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in its own intervention, chided the APC over its threat of sanctions on the new National Assembly leadership, saying the ruling party had proved to all that it was not prepared for governance.

Chief Olisa Metuh, the National Publicity Secretary tried to play down his enthusiasm over the distress of the ruling party yesterday.
“We want them to survive because the key to the stability of the country is in the survival of the party because they are in power,” Metuh said in a telephone discussion. That was a farfetch from the Metuh of before who before now had been severally quoted as describing the APC as group of power seekers only united by a common quest for power.
Last Tuesday as the power quest by the different tendencies in the party peaked during the National Assembly leadership contests, references to Chief Metuh’s questions on the survival of the ruling party inevitably came to mind.

Despite the controversy surrounding his emergences as the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki has brushed aside his rejection by the leadership of his party, the APC and unfolded his agenda for Nigerians. Saraki promised that that the new Senate and National Assembly would make laws that will enable the country to renew its infrastructure, reform the oil and security systems as well as boost agriculture.
 Similarly, Saraki assured that the new NASS would make laws that would lead to the creation of jobs and make doing business in Nigeria much more competitive. “In the coming days we shall be converging to hammer out an aggregate agenda that will help us focus and deliver on these minimum expectations,” the Senate President said. In a statement made available to Vanguard by his media aide, Bamikole Omishore, Saraki described his emergence as the 8th Senate President was a demonstration that Nigerians were united by a common desire to entrench democracy and allow its core principles to guide the conduct of the nation’s political affairs.
 “We have demonstrated that even though we may belong to different persuasions and parties, we are ultimately united by our common desire to entrench democracy and allow its core principles guide the conduct of our political affairs, “Saraki said. He said he believed strongly that the change that Nigerians yearned for would be made possible through the collaboration of the various arms of government. He said:

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed threats by the All Progressives Congress (APC) against the new leaders of the National Assembly as empty boasts aimed to cover its naivety, inexperience and unpreparedness for governance.
 Saraki Saraki The PDP also admonished the APC to shed its arrogance, eat the humble pie and get more organized for governance adding that it lacks the capacity, capability and means to sanction duly elected leaders of the National Assembly. PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh in a statement on Wednesday said the crass inexperience so far displayed by the APC is a pointer that it is not adequately equipped to handle the affairs of government at the center, noting that events would continue to prove the PDP right in this regard.
 “Nothing can be more astonishing than the whining by the APC that the PDP at the last minute expressed its preference for Senator Bukola Saraki and Hon. Yakubu Dogara as Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives respectively after it had earlier stated that it was not interested the positions.
 This calls to question the capacity, experience and skills of APC leaders on political matters and we have no apology whatsoever for their naivety. “The APC is merely suffering the consequences of the greed, lust for power and inordinate ambitions of their leaders. They should note that Nigerians have since moved ahead with the new leaders in the National Assembly and stop wasting their energy on propaganda and blackmails to heat up the polity”.
The PDP further condemned Tuesday’s botched attempts by the APC to close the National Assembly and stop lawmakers from carrying out their constitutional duties, as well as the threats to the newly elected leaders as “totally against the tenets of democracy, the principles of separation of powers and independence of the legislature as enshrined in the constitution”.

The police on Monday arraigned a 70-year-old man, Isa Hussaini, at the Upper Customary Court, Sabongari, Zaria, for stealing a goat.
Hussaini, a resident of Funtua Local Government Area in Katsina State is facing a one-count charge of theft.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Bashir Abdullahi, told the court that the matter was reported through a distress call by the village head of Yakawada,
Alhaji Rilwanu Yakawada in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
He said that on June 2, Hussaini was found in possession of a goat suspected to be stolen.
Abdullahi said that when the suspect was challenged, he confessed to the theft, contrary to Section 319 (a) of the penal code.

32-year-old housewife, Nancy (surname withheld) in Okpanam Community, near Asaba Delta State, has allegedly stabbed herself to death following the failure of the husband to fulfill his conjugal responsibility at the weekend.

It was reliably gathered that the woman, an evangelist with a prominent church in the area, had complained bitterly to her relations about her husband’s “weakness” during sexual intercourse, threatening that she cannot stand it anymore.

But insiders said that she got married to the man, a highly placed mechanical engineer (name withheld) without premarital sex, and is said to have grumbled after the situation confronted her.

Trouble started last Saturday night after the husband reportedly failed to perform again; and she allegedly took the decision to kill herself by stabbing herself in the stomach.

Police officers at the Okpanam Police Division, who confirmed the incident but did not want their names in the print, said they saw her lifeless body in her room after the husband had gone to work.No arrest had yet been made at the time of filing this report as investigation was ongoing.

A Nigerian businessman based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Mr Emmanuel Onyekaozuru, 50, was killed on Sunday by gunmen. The President of Nigeria Union in South Africa, Mr Ikechukwu Anyene, on Monday told newsmen in Pretoria, South Africa, that Onyekaozuru was shot by two gunmen.

‘’ The union has received a report that a Nigerian businessman, Emmanuel Onyekaozuru, was shot in his business premises at 9.00 p.m. yesterday (June 7). ‘’ The report said that the gunmen shot the deceased and escaped in a car.

‘’ The incident has been reported to the police and the Nigerian Consul General in South Africa,’’ he said. Anyene said that the union would work with the consul general and the police to ensure that justice was done in the case.

‘’ Mr Onyekaozuru is the only son of his parents. He is married with three children. ‘’ He is an indigene of Abatete in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State,’’ he said.Anyene also said that the gunmen did not remove anything from the business premises of the deceased. ‘’This is one death too many and we are not happy that a Nigerian has been killed,’’ he said.

Before her death, beautiful Adaku Abel was a 200 level Business Administration student at the Accra Institute of Technology. She had been declared missing after the Ghana Accra flood that killed over 150 people.

President Muhammadu Buhari left Abuja, Nigeria on Sunday, to attend the G7 Summit that is scheduled to take place in Bavaria, Germany, from June 7 to 8, 2015.
