Full text of the inaugural speech by
His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari following his swearing-in as
President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on 29th May, 2015
I am immensely grateful to God Who Has preserved us to witness this
day and this occasion. Today marks a triumph for Nigeria and an
occasion to celebrate her freedom and cherish her democracy. Nigerians
have shown their commitment to democracy and are determined to entrench
its culture. Our journey has not been easy but thanks to the
determination of our people and strong support from friends abroad we
have today a truly democratically elected government in place.
I would like to thank President Goodluck Jonathan for his display of
statesmanship in setting a precedent for us that has now made our people
proud to be Nigerians wherever they are. With the support and
cooperation he has given to the transition process, he has made it
possible for us to show the world that despite the perceived tension in
the land we can be a united people capable of doing what is right for
our nation. Together we co-operated to surprise the world that had come
to expect only the worst from Nigeria. I hope this act of graciously
accepting defeat by the outgoing President will become the standard of
political conduct in the country.

Road accident in Bauchi kills 13, injures 5
Bauchi—A head-on-collision between a Blue Toyota Hiace bus and a truck along Bulkachukwa and Danbam road axis at Busuri village in Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State on Saturday night claimed the lives of 13 persons, including the driver.

Why Buhari has not moved to Aso Rock —Aide
the head of President Muhammadu Buhari’s
media team, Garba Shehu, on Sunday said Buhari had yet to move to the
Presidential Villa, Abuja because his official residence was not ready
for habitation.
Shehu, in an exclusive interview with
our correspondent said workers were currently cleaning and refurbishing
the President’s official residence.
He said Buhari would not move in until that exercise was completed.
Shehu said, “As far as the President is concerned, the place (his official residence) is not ready yet.
“Workers are cleaning and refurbishing the place.
“Once the exercise is completed, the President will move in.”
When asked to be specific on how soon Buhari would move in, Shehu said he believed it would not take time.
Meanwhile, personnel of the Presidential
Villa, Abuja, especially security operatives are currently at a
crossroads on the direction their work will take this week.

FIFA U-20: Brazil beat Flying Eagles 4-2
Flying Eagles
The Coach Manu Garba-led Flying Eagles started its 2015 U-20 Fifa World Cup campaign with a defeat.They lost 2-4 to the Brazilians in their opening game played in Taranaki in New Plymouth, New Zealand.
Brazil opened scoring in the 4th minute. The South Americans also scored in the 35th, 60th, and the 80th minutes. Nigeria scored in the 11th and 27th minutes.
The Flying Eagles have been beaten finalists at the 1989 and 2005 tournaments and have qualified for this competition without a break for the past 10 years.

Another bomb blast hits Maiduguri
An Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted by suspected members of dreaded Boko Haram insurgents on Sunday exploded at the popular Gamboru Market in Maiduguri metropolis living four people critically injured.
The incident which took place at about 1:30pm has caused pandemonium as people hurriedly closed their shops and flee to safety. Fuel Crisis: Funke Akindele rides bicycle to church
Star actress, Funke Akindele rode a bicycle to church on Sunday due to the fuel crisis in the country. This is according to her post on the social media.
Nigeria has been brought to a virtual standstill by fuel shortages, caused by a row between the outgoing government and importers, as well as strikes by petrol tanker drivers and oil and gas workers.
Despite being Africa’s biggest oil producer, petroleum products have to be imported to Nigeria because of a lack of functioning domestic refineries.
The government keeps the price at the pumps below the market rate for consumers and pays the difference to importers and marketers. But they say they are owed $2 billion in arrears and have shut fuel depots until the balance is paid.
The government maintains the money has been paid and the importers are holding the country to ransom by demanding losses from the slump in the naira currency caused by the global drop in oil prices.

Nigerian wife in the US having secret sex
When the video was shown to the husband, his initial reaction was to dismiss the whole scene as a concocted fairy-tale- a sick joke that his haters had pulled, to embarrass and diminish him. How could his wife who had given him four beautiful kids and was there for him as ‘the rock of Gibraltar’ be caught in such a lurid act? His wife was a respected member of the Nigerian community in Maryland, United States and was the hardworking and successful manager of nurses in a reputable Washington DC hospital.

President Muhammadu Buhari says officials of past administrations including ministers and those who served under the Jonathan regime are entitled to their full rights and privileges under the constitution and must not be subjected to any undue harassment and intimidation at the airports or at other points of entry and exit.

28 injured,26 worshippers dead in Maiduguri mosque attack
A suicide bomber, yesterday, sneaked into a mosque along Ali Kotoko Road, near Monday Market in Maiduguri, Borno State capital, leaving 26 dead and 28 critically injured, security sources assisting in the evacuation of victims said.
The incident took place at about 3:45pm when Muslim faithful gathered to perform their afternoon prayer.
Unconfirmed sources, however, revealed that apart from the mosque explosion, another blast rocked some area of the Monday Market with fewer casualty figure.
The incidents came barely 12 hours after Boko Haram gunmen were repelled by the military in Maiduguri, which also claimed many lives.

Jonathan’s last-minute appointments
Now that President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration has formally ended, it is time for us to show interest in how to handle the reckless injury-time appointments he made.
Although a renowned legal luminary Prof Itse Sagay has already used the appropriate words to describe the appointments as ‘morally improper and politically immature’, the posture of some analysts that the appointments be dissolved would be simplistic if not more juvenile.
This is because a look at the modus operandi of Jonathan’s government does not in any way suggest that his last minute appointments were worse than those made much earlier. The exact point in time when appointments were made is therefore virtually irrelevant.
Indeed, for the better part of his tenure, Jonathan operated as if a ‘Caretaker-Gestapo’ was in place to act on his behalf. On his last day in office, his officials clapped when he naively said any conceived probe should go beyond his tenure. It was like a thief telling a court that many of his friends were also thieves. Knowing that his predecessors deserved to be probed why didn’t he do it? Indeed, why didn’t he do anything- Chibok, Power, Fuel etc?

Pastor, wife, 8 church members killed! by Motor accident
TO describe the auto crash that claimed the lives of a couple, and
eight other members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG)
traveling from the monthly camp meeting on the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway
to Ondo town as tragic is an understatement.
Three of the victims, a Zonal Pastor in Ondo Province 2, Pastor Dominic Folorunso Akinseye, 52; his wife, Beatrice; and Pastor Festus Akinsoyinu Fadakinte, were staff of the Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo while the seven other passengers in the bus were staunch members of the church. Reports had it that the impact of the crash was so much that it took time before the mangled bodies of the deceased persons could be removed from the wreckage.

least 75 people and wounded dozens others in Aleppo province, according
to medical sources and a monitoring group.
The deaths occurred in two separate incidents on Saturday when helicopters dropped explosives-filled barrels, which are deemed illegal under international law.
One barrel bomb hit the rebel-held Shaar neighbourhood of Aleppo, killing at least 20 people, most of them from the same family, local activists have told Al Jazeera.
In the second attack, at least 55 people were killed after bombs hit a busy market in al-Bab city – about 40km northeast of Aleppo city, which is controlled by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which documents violence through a network of activists on the ground, dubbed the al-Bab attack as a “massacre,” adding that the number of dead likely would rise because many of the wounded were in critical condition.

Pres. Buhari leaves guests at inaugural lunch to attend Jumat service
Pres. Buhari yesterday Friday May 29th left some African leaders and other guests who had moved with him from the Eagles Square to the new Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa to celebrate his inauguration, midway into the programme to attend Jumat service. When he didn't return after many hours, organizers of the event had to invite VP Osinbajo to make remarks on behalf of Buhari.
Osinbajo, in his remarks, apologised to the guests for the President’s absence. He explained that he left in order to take part in Jumat prayers. The President did not return to the venue before the programme ended. The vice-president thanked the African leaders for attending the inauguration.“On behalf of the people of Nigeria and most especially on behalf of the President, I thank you and wish you safe journey back home.”The vice-president later saw the African leaders off on behalf of the President before being driven away in his official car."

I Submitted Onu’s Name For SGFSay Okorocha
Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has denied having any
faceoff with a former Governor of Abia State and chieftain of the All
Progressives Congress, APC, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, over the choice of who
becomes the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Okorocha cleared the air while addressing journalists at the Government House Owerri on Friday, adding that he has good relationship with Onu and that Onu’s name was among the three he submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari for consideration for the office of the SGF.
He said: “When Ndigbo lost the chance to produce the Senate President or the Speaker of the House of Representatives, which was initially zoned to the South-East, we then brought the idea of the SGF, I nominated Onu, Senator Chris Ngige and Prof. Anthony Anwuka (Secretary to Imo State Government). But this was before Buhari said he was not going to take any list from any governor.”
He declared that his second term in office will see him carry out comprehensive review of his administration’s policies to enable it serve people of the state better.
He, however, warned that the review may not go down well with the people.

Four killed as heavy explosions, gunshots In Maiduguri

Suicide bomber kills 6 in Borno Village
The
Borno Police Command on Friday confirmed the killing of six persons
after a sucide bomber attacked a venue of wedding fatiha in Tashan Alade
in Hawul Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno. Mr Aderemi Opadokun
stated this in an interview with Journalists in Maiduguri on Friday.Hawul is south and about 215 kilometres drive from Maiduguri which has suffered series of killings and bombings by insurgents in recent past. Opadokun said 30 people were also injured during the attack. The attack happened while president Muhammadu Buhari in his inaugural speech was vowing to subdue Boko Haram.

Fifa election: Sepp Blatter and Prince Ali battle for power
Fifa’s 209 member associations will decide on Friday whether to give Sepp Blatter a fifth term as president.
World football’s governing body continues to reel from a series of damaging corruption allegations.But the 79-year-old Blatter has already resisted calls to resign and insists he is the man to “fix things”.
Blatter, who has been at the helm of Fifa since 1998, is being challenged for the presidency by 39-year-old Jordanian Prince Ali bin al-Hussein.

The occasion that provided the basis for the false report by The Sun was a media briefing by Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, spokesperson of the EFCC, who addressed more than 40 journalists from over 30 media organizations at the Commission’s monthly media briefing in Abuja on May 25, 2015. At no time during the event did Uwujaren comment on the performance or lack of it, by the Jonathan administration let alone accusing it of poor performance or starving the Commission of funds.
He was only asked a question on the Commission’s view on the focus which the in-coming Buhari administration places on the fight against corruption, to which he responded that the Commission, like most Nigerians who are bothered about the problem of corruption, welcomes the focus which he believes will further empower the EFCC in the pursuit of its mandate of fighting economic crimes and corruption. It is a great disservice to society when journalists fabricates and twist issues to serve motives that are not altruistic.
The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has been drawn to a report in The Sun newspaper of Tuesday, May 26, 2015, entitled, Jonathan Starved EFCC of Funds- Lamorde, in which the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde was quoted as indicting the out-going Jonathan administration of poor performance.
The Commission takes exception to this report which is pure fabrication by the author for reason best known to him.In the first place, Lamorde who is currently out of the country did not speak with the media and could not have made the comments attributed to him by The Sun newspapers.

Policeman shoots 34 year old man over N2,000
A mobile policeman in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, allegedly shot a 34-year-old Adamu Mohammed, over an argument of N2,000 unpaid fees for a menial job.
According to Mohammed's family, the victim was shot last Tuesday by the mobile policeman after an argument with a woman who hired him to clear a portion of land close to her home at Erepa Road and dumped at the Federal Medical Centre.
