kwankwaso and full-implementation of collapsed-bridge

Gov. Rabi’u Kwankwaso of Kano State has promised full implementation of the recommendations of the committee set up to investigate the recent collapse of a pedestrian bridge in Kano metropolis.
 He made the pledge while receiving the report of the committee on Wednesday in Kano. The governor was represented at the occasion by the Commissioner of Works, Housing and Transport, Alhaji Abba Yusuf. Kwankwaso said implementing the committee’s recommendations was necessary in order to avoid similar incident in future and prevent possible loss of lives and property.

 ‘’The report will be scrutinised thoroughly and the recommendations will be fully implemented. ‘’It was based on the concern of the government that the committee was set up to investigate the cause of the incident,’’ he said. According to him, the state government would continue to provide essential services to the people of the state until the expiration of its tenure on May 29.

 He prayed for the repose of the soul of those who lost their lives during the incident and the speedy recovery of the injured. Earlier, the Chairman of the committee, Mr Usman Sadiq, blamed the collapse of the bridge on “professional negligence’’. -
